Fair Usage Policy
Last updated: March 18, 2026
This Fair Usage Policy governs your use of the Vasp Track API and automated access to the Service at vasptrack.org. This policy supplements our Terms of Use.
1. API Access
The Vasp Track API is available at /api/v1 and provides programmatic access to the VASP/CASP directory. Basic API access does not require authentication.
The API provides access to:
- VASP/CASP listings and search
- Entity details including regulatory status, risk scores, and Travel Rule readiness
- Jurisdiction information and regulatory frameworks
- Identifier resolution (UUID, LEI, slug)
2. Rate Limits
To ensure fair access for all users, the following rate limits apply:
- 100 requests per minute per IP address
Requests exceeding the rate limit will receive a 429 Too Many Requests response. If you need higher limits for a specific use case, please contact us.
Rate limits may be adjusted at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate changes in advance.
3. Acceptable Use
The API is intended for use cases such as:
- Research and analysis — exploring the VASP/CASP landscape, identifying trends, comparing entities
- Compliance and due diligence — integrating VASP data into compliance workflows and counterparty screening
- Compliance tool integration — building tools that help organisations meet regulatory obligations
- Academic research — studying regulatory patterns, market structure, and crypto-asset ecosystem development
- Risk monitoring — tracking changes in risk scores or regulatory status over time
- Application development — building services that surface or enhance Vasp Track data for end users
4. Prohibited Use
The following uses of the API are not permitted:
- Excessive automated scraping — accessing the API or website beyond the published rate limits, or using techniques designed to circumvent rate limiting
- Reselling raw data without attribution — redistributing Vasp Track data as your own product without crediting the source
- Misrepresenting data origin — presenting Vasp Track data as though it originated from your own research or another source
- Harmful use — using data to harass, discriminate against, or cause harm to any entity or individual listed in the directory
- Reverse-engineering scoring — attempting to reverse-engineer the risk scoring algorithms or proprietary data processing methods
- Scraping the website — using automated tools to access the website HTML instead of using the provided API endpoints
- Overloading the Service — deliberately sending requests designed to degrade performance or availability for other users
5. Attribution
When displaying Vasp Track data publicly (in applications, reports, publications, or websites), you must provide clear attribution:
- Credit Vasp Track or vasptrack.org as the data source
- Where practical, include a link to the relevant page on vasptrack.org
Example attribution: "Data sourced from Vasp Track (vasptrack.org)"
Attribution is not required for internal use within your organisation.
6. Commercial Use
Commercial use of the API is permitted, provided you:
- Comply with the rate limits and this Fair Usage Policy
- Provide attribution as described in Section 5
- Do not resell raw Vasp Track data as a standalone product
For bulk data access, higher rate limits, or commercial partnership enquiries, please contact us at [email protected].
7. Data Freshness
Vasp Track data is updated periodically through automated enrichment processes and community submissions. Data is not real-time.
- Enrichment runs at varying intervals depending on the data source
- Risk scores are recomputed periodically, not continuously
- Regulatory status changes may take time to be reflected
Always check the data's recency before relying on it for time-sensitive decisions. The API may include timestamp fields indicating when records were last updated.
8. Enforcement
We reserve the right to enforce this policy through:
- Rate limiting — automatic throttling of requests that exceed limits
- Temporary suspension — blocking access for repeated or serious violations
- Permanent ban — revoking API access for persistent or egregious violations
We will make reasonable efforts to contact violators before taking permanent action, except in cases of clearly malicious activity.
9. Disclaimer
API data is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. See our Terms of Use for full disclaimers regarding data accuracy and limitations of liability.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Fair Usage Policy at any time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the API after changes constitutes acceptance.
